Ronnie Dunn from the iconic duo Brooks & Dunn recently announced a leg injury sustained during a skiing mishap. At 72, Dunn humorously mentioned his need for an eight-week recovery period on social media. He jokingly suggested altering his song lyrics to reflect his current situation, accompanied by an image of his bandaged leg.
The Instagram post showed Dunn seated in a vehicle, possibly on his way back from a medical consultation. Due to his injury, he swapped his usual cowboy boots for more comfortable sneakers. Fans quickly responded with supportive messages, wishing him a swift recovery. One fan expressed concern while others encouraged him to stay youthful at heart.
This incident occurs following Brooks & Dunn’s recent success at the 58th Annual CMA Awards, where they reclaimed the Vocal Duo of the Year accolade, their first since 2006. This win marked their 15th in this category, tying them for the most CMA Awards with a total of 19 honors. The awards night also featured a memorable performance by Brooks & Dunn and Jelly Roll, delivering a powerful rendition of “Believe.”
This rendition of “Believe” is part of Brooks & Dunn’s REBOOT 2 album, released just before the 2024 CMA Awards. The album is a sequel to their 2019 project, REBOOT, continuing the theme of reimagining their classic hits with a fresh roster of artists. Collaborators on the album include Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Riley Green, and more, each bringing their unique flair to songs like “Play Something Country” and “Neon Moon.”
The project allowed artists complete creative control, encouraging them to reinterpret the songs according to their individual styles. Brooks & Dunn emphasized a no-rules approach, inviting diverse musical influences from rock to blues to shape the album’s sound.
Looking ahead, Dunn will need to focus on recovery as Brooks & Dunn are scheduled to embark on the Neon Moon Tour in early 2025. The tour, featuring special guest David Lee Murphy, is set to begin on March 13, 2025.
