SEVENTEEN Announces New Album “Happy Burstday” for May 26 Release

K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN announced the release date for their upcoming fifth studio album on Monday. “Happy Burstday” is set to be released on May 26, marking the group’s first full-length album in nearly three years.

The follow-up to 2022’s “Face the Sun” was revealed by members S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DK, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, and DINO in a promotional video. The video featured a giant floating black envelope in a dingy subway station. The back of the envelope hinted at more upcoming news from the 13-member group.

In addition to the May 26 release date, SEVENTEEN teased a “new tour,” a “new unit single album,” and “new SEVENTEEN content,” with more special announcements to follow. The video concluded with the envelope collapsing to the ground as lights in the subway tunnel flickered ominously. The unseen cameraman ran to a set of stairs to find an elaborately frosted birthday cake, which burst into flames, revealing the album’s title in black and red letters.

The album “HAPPY BURSTDAY” combines the words “birthday” and “burst” to convey SEVENTEEN’s explosive energy and rebirth, according to a release. The album’s release date coincides with the 10th anniversary of SEVENTEEN’s debut in 2015.

Last month, vocal unit leader and producer/singer WOOZI and performance unit leader and dancer/rapper HOSHI collaborated on their first single album, the three-track “Beam.”
