NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Shaboozey is set to take the stage at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards. The Virginia native was announced as a performer on Thursday, joining Teddy Swims and Post Malone, with whom he competed for the longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart in 2024.
Fans can expect live performances of his hit songs “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and “Highway” from his May album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going. The 12-track LP also includes popular singles like “My Fault” featuring Noah Cyrus and “Drink Don’t Need No Mix” featuring BigXthaPlug. Shaboozey is nominated for Single of the Year, alongside Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” and Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse.” Additionally, Shaboozey is in the running for Best New Artist.
The CMA Awards will be held on Nov. 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
In June, Shaboozey performed “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” at the 2024 BET Awards alongside J-Kwon. Reflecting on the experience, Shaboozey said, “It was really cool to bring my world to that space, bringing a genre of music that isn’t usually showcased at an event like that — coming out playing guitar with the choreography and the fiddle in the background.” He also credited J-Kwon for giving the song his stamp of approval.
Shaboozey also expressed his support for Beyoncé following her album COWBOY CARTER being snubbed during the September CMA nominees announcement. “Thank you, [Beyoncé], for opening a door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!” Shaboozey tweeted.
