In a case of mistaken identity at the 2025 Grammy AwardsC, Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante was thought to be Poppy during a red carpet interview.
Both performers were nominated for Best Metal Performance, and while neither took home the prize, LaPlante won the hearts of many viewers after taking the mishap in stride.
The clip that has been making the rounds on X, the red carpet interviewer is heard calling LaPlante “rock royalty” before addressing her as Poppy. The camera catches the Spiritbox frontwoman’s reaction as she decides to go along with what the interviewer is saying.
“I am Poppy” LaPlante says with a straight face, “and I am really happy to be here nominated with Knocked Loose. I really hope we win.”
After talking about prior nomiantions for the Grammy awards, LaPlante continued her charade as Poppy stating:
“Really happy to be here again, would love to take home the Grammy for Knocked Loose and myself because I would be the first woman to win this award.” She finished up her interview saying, “I hope it’s me or Spiritbox and Courtney.”
