Spotify Debuts Concert Film Featuring The Weeknd

Spotify is celebrating a record-breaking artist with its first-ever concert film.

The streaming platform has partnered with The Weeknd to release Billions Club Live With The Weeknd, a 45-minute concert film capturing the artist’s recent one-night-only performance in Los Angeles. The concert honors his record-breaking achievement of 25 songs surpassing 1 billion streams.

The film, produced by OBB Pictures, will be available on Spotify starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, through iOS, Android, desktop, and TV devices. It features performances of The Weeknd’s biggest hits alongside new tracks from his upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The project also includes voiceovers from The Weeknd reflecting on transformative moments in his career and expressing gratitude to his global audience, according to a press release.

Hurry Up Tomorrow is set to be released on Jan. 24 via XO and Republic Records. It will be the final installment of The Weeknd’s trilogy, following 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. The album includes previously released singles “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless” featuring Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta.

“This album is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he told W Magazine in May 2023. “As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” He hinted that he may continue making music under his real name, Abel Tesfaye.

In addition to the album, The Weeknd will release an accompanying psychological thriller film of the same name. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the film stars The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan.
