Star Wars Burlesque Parody The Empire Strips Back Debuts in Las Vegas

“The Empire Strips Back: A Burlesque Parody” is set to bring its unique twist on the “Star Wars” universe to the Rio’s former Chippendales theater. With its premiere strategically planned for May 4, aligning with the playful “May the 4th be with you,” the show promises a blend of humor, dance, and iconic “Star Wars” themes. Previews begin on May 1, with detailed ticketing information and schedules to follow.

Fans of “Star Wars” can expect a playful take on familiar characters, featuring sexy Stormtroopers and a sequined C-3PO, in what is described as a bawdy and humorous performance. The production is in an open-ended run, taking over the venue previously occupied by the Chippendales for nearly 23 years.

The show, originally conceived by Russall S. Beattie in 2011, has gained traction across North America, with engagements in cities like Chicago, Orlando, Miami, Houston, and San Diego. A London version will launch alongside the Las Vegas production. Creative direction is provided by former Spiegelworld talents David Foster and Daniel Kells, with Bec Morris handling direction and choreography, bringing her experience with artists like Nicki Minaj and J. Balvin to the stage.

Described as a series of parody strip numbers rather than a topless performance, the show features scantily clad dancers in comedic and saucy routines. One memorable scene reportedly involves a comedic take on Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder being washed to the tune of Minaj’s “Starships.” This adult-themed parody aims to entertain with its clever mash-up of “Star Wars” nostalgia and burlesque flair.
