Tesla Arson Attack in Las Vegas Sparks Federal Investigation

The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect accused of setting multiple Teslas on fire at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, with the suspect reportedly using Molotov cocktails and firing gunshots into the vehicles. The suspect, described as wearing all black, damaged at least five Teslas, with two becoming engulfed in flames. The word “resist” was painted on the facility’s door.

The attack is being treated as a targeted act against Tesla, according to Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Clark County Fire Department are investigating the incident. FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans noted that while it’s too early to label the attack as terrorism, it shows potential political motives. Evans emphasized the seriousness of such acts, stating they are federal crimes and assuring that those responsible will be prosecuted.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo condemned the violence, calling it unacceptable and vowing that those responsible would face legal consequences. The incident follows another event involving a Tesla explosion outside Trump International in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day.

Authorities are appealing to the public for information, urging anyone with details to contact the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center.
