Attorney Tony Buzbee, representing several alleged victims in cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs, is now facing his own legal battle. An unnamed male celebrity, using the pseudonym “John Doe,” accused Buzbee and his firm of attempting to extort large sums by threatening to file false allegations unless demands were met. The lawsuit was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Doe claims Buzbee’s firm is trying to exploit the allegations against Combs by involving other public figures connected to him.
Diddy has been in the spotlight since November 2023 after his ex-girlfriend Cassie accused him of sexual assault, which he denied but settled out of court. In September, Diddy was arrested on charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Alleged victims have filed lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault and other crimes. Buzbee claims to represent over 120 of Diddy’s alleged victims and has filed numerous lawsuits against him.
In response to Doe’s lawsuit, Buzbee stated on Instagram that the filing is an attempt to prevent him from disclosing names in public lawsuits. He emphasized his commitment to supporting sexual assault survivors and dismissed the case against his firm as without merit. Buzbee explained that the demand letters sent to Doe’s legal team were standard and not extortionate, seeking mediation instead of litigation.
Diddy’s counsel, Erica Wolff, commented that the extortion lawsuit against Buzbee reveals his actions as publicity stunts aimed at extracting payments from celebrities. She reiterated that Combs is confident in the judicial process and maintains his innocence regarding all allegations.
