Vended weighs in on Slipknot nepotism claims: “Everyone thinks it’s just been handed to us.”

Vended wants you to know they are more than their familial connections to Slipknot.

The band sat down with Metal Hammer and discussed how critic’s allegations of nepotism impacted them, especially after the band was alotted opening slots at Slipknot shows.

Vended’s vocalist Griffin Taylor, the son of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, was negatively impacted by the nepotism claims,  saying that he was “a teenager with a lot of feelings and a lot of emotions and I didn’t know how to deal with it. It would just depress the fuck out of me.”

Vended’s drummer Simon Crahan, the son of Slipknots M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, is indifferent to the claims of nepotism the band receives, stating:

“My dad told me, ‘I would not put you on a tour if you weren’t good. We wouldn’t be playing festivals the way we do if we weren’t good. We’re a good band. We play good music. That’s why we’re here. We’ve discovered that talent ourselves. And everyone thinks it’s just been handed to us.”

Vended will be opening a North American run with While She Sleeps and Bury Tomorrow this Spring.
