Justin Bieber may be hinting at new music. Amid Instagram posts featuring wildlife, ice skating with his wife, Hailey, and snowy escapades in his underwear, the pop star shared images that appear to show him recording.
On Saturday (Jan. 18), Bieber posted photos of himself singing into a microphone with headphones on. Photographer Rory Kramer, credited on many of Bieber’s recent Instagram photos, was tagged in the post.
The teaser comes days after Bieber shared a 24-second clip of a song on Jan. 15. In the recording, which sounded like a demo, Bieber sang raspy lines accompanied by a sparse acoustic guitar: “B— I’m takin’ bait/ I’m takin’ it/ You takin’ bait/ I’m shakin’ it/ You’re shakin’ it/ Shakin’ off the hate.”
In October, Bieber also posted photos from what appeared to be a studio session, featuring a keyboard and microphone. Around the same time, fellow artist Mk.gee told The New York Times he had been in the studio with Bieber.
“He’s searching,” Mk.gee said. “Anything that comes out of his mouth: That’s pop music. You can really do pretty wild stuff behind that, just because it represents something.”
If Bieber releases a new album in 2025, it would be his first since Justice in 2021. That album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and included hits such as the No. 3-charting “Holy” with Chance the Rapper and the No. 1 single “Peaches” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon.
Bieber’s most recent solo single, “Honest,” featuring Don Toliver, was released in 2022. In 2023, he was featured on Toliver’s “Private Landing” with Future and collaborated with SZA on an acoustic version of “Snooze.”
